Dakota State University is home to the Center for Information Assurance in Banking and Finance (CIABF). In this Center, research is conducted that promotes the following objectives:

1. Increase corporate and public awareness of IA issues in banking and finance;

2. Establish corporate, government, and academic partnerships to enhance the institution's education in IA in banking and finance;

3. Work collaboratively with corporate, government, and academic partners to carry out research to develop inter-disciplinary solutions to be used to resolve IA and computer security problems in banking and finance.

Dr. Streff is Director of CIABF. Dr. Streff is also Principle Investigator on a grant to research biometrics. Dr. Streff also conducts research in small and mid-sized banks to understand and resolve the banking issues relevant to this audiance.

Dr. Streff has focused on building the capabilities of the Center for Information Assurance in Banking and Finance (CIABF). CIABF has three goals: 1) Increase corporate and public awareness of IA issues in banking and finance; 2) Establish corporate, government, and academic partnerships to enhance the institution’s education in IA in banking and finance, 3) Work collaboratively with corporate, government, and academic partners to carry out research to develop inter-disciplinary solutions to be used to resolve IA and computer security issues in banking and finance.

Dr. Streff’s current research focus is in the area of applied biometrics. Dr. Streff is researching the viability of using biometrics to stem the tide of identity theft. Dr. Streff is Principle Investigator on a grant that leverages biometrics to stem the tide of identity theft. Mr. Streff is also working with small and mid-sized banks to improve the security posture of these organizations.
