Approved Course Description: Continues the building of confidence in conversation and the foundations of Spanish. Previous study of Spanish is required.

Pre-requisites:  Spanish 101 or consent of the instructor.

Content: This course will continue the study of  the basics of the Spanish language including all four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. In addition, we will learn about the culture of Spanish speaking countries, including, but not limited to the geography, history and arts.

          Global diversity is a goal of this course.  Students will learn to appreciate the Spanish and Spanish-speaking cultures around the globe.

Policies and Procedures:

Attendance: Attendance is required.  Absences will be reflected in the grade. Students must inform the instructor BEFORE class if they will be absent.  Students are responsible for any work or material due on the missed day as well as any assignments given on the missed day. After six absences, the student will be asked to meet with the instructor.

Academic Dishonesty:  I expect honesty at all times.  Any instances of dishonesty will be dealt with in accordance with the section on "Academic Dishonesty" found in the DSU Trojan Handbook.

Americans with Disabilities Act: If there is any student in this class who, due to a disability, has need for non-standard note taking, test taking, or other course modifications, please feel free to come and discuss this with me privately, as soon as possible.  Also, please contact the DSU ADA Coordinator, Nancy Moose, 256-5269, located in  Beadle Hall Room 111.

            Optional, but recommended:  Spanish/English Dictionary

Computer Skills Used:  Students need to know how to search the World Wide Web.

Aims and Objectives:  The student will acquire the necessary skills to successfully complete the course.

Instructional Methodologies:  This class will use current language learning strategies, including mucho student response in the target language.

Evaluation Procedure: The final grade will be based on tests, quizzes, class participation and assignment completion.  There is no extra credit work allowed.

Class work will be averaged in the following manner:
