2000-present     Instruction/Reference Librarian                  Dakota State University, Madison, SD
Implement the Karl E. Mundt Library’s program of Information Literacy, which includes instructing students and faculty on finding, using and evaluating print and electronic tools, among other resources.  Providing reference and designing resource guides for users.  Selecting resources materials.  Project coordinator for the collaborative chat reference program, Ask the Librarians - LIVE, between DSU, Northern State University and South Dakota State University.

Instructed students and professors on use of the ULS’s electronic catalog, Voyager, and various databases, including Lexis-Nexis, SilverPlatter and EBSCOhost. Created a training manual on ABI-Inform and SilverPlatter for new ULS employees.

 1999-2000      Intern                                                              University Library System, Pittsburgh, PA Provided reference service to the University of Pittsburgh’s community, which includes the public.  Instruct patrons on various electronic and print reference tools that are housed in the library.  Created pathfinders for the African-American collection.

Grants and Awards
Upper Midwest Conservation Association Needs Assessment Survey grant ($5000)
   
     The grant paid for a conservation consultant to evaluate the library building and the collections housed in the library, including the Karl Mundt Archives and the University Archives.

Library Services and Technology Act grant ($31,000)
        The grant paid for the software, equipment and training for a pilot project of online, virtual reference to be offered to faculty, students and staff of DSU, Northern State University and South Dakota State University.

SDLA Professional Development Grant ($400)
       
The grant enable me to attend the Virtual Reference Desk conference so I could learn more about virtual reference service and about software products for this service.
