Purpose of the Program

This program is designed to promote and accelerate the art of research on the Dakota State University campus through the mentoring relationship of faculty to students, as well as providing a venue to showcase ongoing and/or planned research, including graduate and undergraduate projects.  Through this academic exercise, it is hoped that a greater emphasis on converting ideas into commercial endeavors will emerge.

Paper and presentations that are based on the planning process for future research are deemed appropriate, and presenters shall be invited back to subsequent symposiums to update the University on the outcomes of the planned research.

The symposium will provide public speaking opportunities for all participants, and is designed to be a value-added portion of the educational program that the students are completing.

Category and Title

Subject matter is not limited, but the researcher’s topic should be grounded in such a fashion that the paper addresses the mission statement of Dakota State University.  It is hoped that through this wide perspective that papers will come forward that demonstrate the integrated use of technology regardless of the academic discipline.

Format and Style

The writing format and style is not specifically addressed, and is to remain an option of the presenter.  Guidelines that the Center of Excellence would appreciate seeing are: 12 point font, 1 inch margins, and academic writing style that is familiar to the presenter.
