| To submit a birding hotspot for publication on this website, just email me a short written description of the area and the birds you are likely to see there (with special attention to SD specialties) and some indication of where the area is in relation to things I can find on a map (i.e. lakes, towns, etc.). | |
| In order to reach South Dakota's birding
hotspots safely and efficiently you should have a South Dakota Highway
map, distributed free of charge from the SD Highway Department, a South
Dakota Gazeteer published by DeLorme and the following regional birding
guides: Black Hills: A Birdwatcher's Guide to the Black Hills and Adjacent Plains, 2nd ed. Richard A. Peterson PC Press, Vermillion, SD Northwestern South Dakota: Hettinger, North Dakota Dave and Carolyn Griffiths Those birding in or near Nebraska might find this guide to birding areas in Nebraska, created and distributed by Paul A. Johnsgard from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, quite useful. Birding Areas in Nebraska (You can download this file directly by option-clicking on the link if you are using a Macintosh). |
