RESEARCH IN PROGRESS
Student Computer Usage Research Project (SCURP). Multi-disciplinary,
multi-university effort to study the relationships among student ability,
effort, attitudes, computer-based instruction, and learning outcomes. Now entering phase 2, the expansion of the study to multiple
campuses/environments. Phase 3 will focus on producing longitudinal,
“life of the student” studies of attitudes about, and performance with,
computer-based and computer-enhanced higher education.
Service base learning
An investigation of CIS
/ MIS curriculum to be submitted to the Fall 2009
Information Systems Education Convention (ISECON). Paper
topic to be determined in collaboration with Dr. Jack Walters & Dr. Wayne
Pauli.

GRANTS AND AWARDS
I have written a variety
of grant request to support education innovation at DSU. These proposals
include a grant to develop new innovative distance delivery courses and options
and an equipment grant from CISCO systems to provide DSU with over $20,000 worth
of equipment for networking and security courses.
I am an active
participant in the faculty research initiatives here at Dakota State University
receiving funding in three out of the last four years.
AREAS OF RESEARCH INTEREST
I am involved in
research and academic writing in the area of the acceptance and use of Tablet
PCs (TPC). Beginning in the fall of 2008 a group of faculty at DSU has started
to expand the research in a longitudinal manner and are
presently recruiting other TPC universities in the area to join the research
stream. I continue to support the universities pursuit of innovation in
technology with Tablet PC’s both in my writing and course development
activities.
ACTIVITIES
I am a member of CompTIA professional organization and I have been an active
supporter of the DSU computer club. I have initiated a Moran scholarship fund
to provide students from Dell Rapids, SD scholarship funds if they enroll in a
program offered by the college of BIS at DSU.
