A Walk In The Wood

            Once upon a time there lived a girl named Susan. Susan lived in a house like every other girl she knew.  Susan had forest friends and people friends.  Susan had a mom named Jane, a dad named Joe, a brother named Jay, and a cat named Jill.

            One day while Susan was walking in the forest she met up with a witch stewing a brew by the fire. 

            Susan said, “Today is a good day for making soup.   Right?”

            Witch said sadly, “Yes.   But  I have no berries to finish the brew.”

            Susan  said , “ I will find some berries for you.”

            Witch said, “Thank you.”

            So Susan set of looking for some berries.  An hour later Susan met up with a bear.  The bear was eating berries.

            Susan said,” Today is a good day for a picnic.  Right?”

            Bear said, “Yes.  But I don’t have fish to fill me up.”

            Susan said, “I will get one fish if you give me 10 berries.”

            Bear said, “OK.”

            Susan went back to the witch and gave her  the berries.  She went to the lake got the fish and gave it to the bear.  Then when she was done she went home.  She told her family about it.  Then they had a party for her arrival, and everybody  lived happily ever after!

Kiana Saves The Day

      One day when Kiana was walking home on a sunny day from school she smelled a sweet creamy smell.   The smell was her mother’s fantastic cinnamon rolls.   Cinnamon rolls are Kiana’s favorite after school treat.  Kiana likes to help her mom make the rolls on Saturdays.  Her mom puts lots of cinnamon and frosting on them.

            Her mother was waiting for her at the door with a big smile.  When Kiana got to the door her mother told her some good news.  She said, “ President Bush asked us if one of his soldiers could stay at our house during the war.  So I said yes.” 

           Kiana said, “That’s great mom but why is he staying at our house?”  Mom said, “Because there’s no room anywhere else.” 

            Dad said, “His name is Caleb Hawkens.  Right?” 

            Mom said, ”That’s right dear.” 

            Kiana said in her mind, “ I wonder if he will take me to the war grounds?” 

            Kiana set off the next day to pick up Sir Hawkens at the Train Depot.   The train depot is a big building.  There are tons of soldiers around the depot preparing to go to the battle.  

            On the way home Kiana asked Sir Hawkens, “ How old are you?  I’m just asking  because you look so young.”  Sir Hawkens said, “ I’m 20 years old.”   The rest of the way home was quiet.  

            It was the day before the war ended.  And then out of nowhere crooks came and the first crook said, “ Where is Sir Hawkens?!”  Kiana said,” Why do you want to know?”  Sir Hawkens came out and said “Take me!”  So the crooks took Sir Hawkens.  Everyone was sad that Sir Hawkens was taken away by the crooks.   But Kiana sneaked into the crooks cabin and told Sir Hawkens to follow her out of the hole she made to get in.  When Kiana and Caleb got back into town everyone was so happy they had a party and put a sign that said, “ Kiana Saved the Day!” 

            The war ended and everyone lived happily ever after.
