Course Description
This seminar styles course will familiarize school leaders with the
technological, financial and other issues related to deploying a
1 to 1 computer initiative. Participants will be better prepared to plan
for, implement and assess the impact of 1 to 1
computing for their district.
Computing Requirements
1. Access
to the Internet and email. Familiarity with basic computing and
telecommunicating functions
2. Access
to a DDN location for bridging the course to you. If you miss a session, it will be encoded for
later web viewing.
Core Objectives
This course is designed to enable learners to:
1.
Become
knowledgeable of the opportunities and implications of a 1 to 1 computing
initiative. (COE Standard 1, 4; NCATE 1

Develop
implementation strategies for supporting a 1to 1 computing initiative. (COE
Standard 11; NCATE 1, 3)
3.
Develop
a systematic approach to understand and evaluate a 1 to 1 computing initiative
that for supports teaching, learning and assessment. (COE Standard 2, 3, 7;
NCATE 1, 4)
4.
Become
familiar with varied technology and tools of 1 to 1 computing. (COE Standard 2, 4, 7; NCATE 1, 3)
5.
Be
aware of the pros and cons in implementing 1 to 1 computing to enhance
collaborative and interactive learning.

Graduate Nature of the Course
Participants will research, discuss, and apply current pedagogy on effective integration
1 to 1 computing technologies into the teaching and learning process.
Participants will reflect on
changes in pedagogy based on the results of application of new technologies in the classroom.
