Old West

The Old West of this page is defined loosely as the legend and reality of 19th Century America west of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers and anything and anybody associated with it, past and present.
After all, the Old West is not really a time or a place but a state of mind. Jim Janke

It's claimed that this is a picture of the James, Younger, and Dalton families.
Can anyone verify the validity of that claim and identify who is who in the picture?
Is that Jesse James' son on the front right on the chair?

Here's a mystery. Object hangs in the basement of the Hotel del Coronado,
across the bay from San Diego. About 25 feet long. It would have to be cut in half
to remove it from the basement. What is it?! It could have been used in the
late 19th century. Part of a wagon or a ship? Used in construction?
