 | Speaker Phone Conversation from Camp
Virginia (Cpt
Lentsch and 1SG Jensen)
The meeting opened with a call to Cpt. Lentch in Kuwait to find out how
things are going at Camp Virginia. Lucas went on to explain that the troops
were all doing well, but had some times of boredom during the first few weeks
because of the equipment not arriving at the port. Once the equipment arrived
they were kept busy preparing for their move into Iraq. The Battalion will be
based south of Baghdad but they will not be all together. The missions that
battery A will be doing is different within the unit. The men are spread out
in 4 different directions. The missions will be , providing security to
captured ammo, convoying helping truckers thru Iraq. This will not only be for
military but commercial as well. All vehicles were in the process of being up
armored for there own protection. Lucas proceeded to tell everyone about the
living conditions at Camp Virginia. The tents could hold as many as 60 men or
as small as 20. They have wood floors with heating and cooling in them.
Everyone needs to be careful with leaving food items around because of the
rodent problem. Mess hall was half a mile walk and they have had a few sand
storms that have made it difficult for them to reach the chow line. The camp
is also very big. There are many different people from all different
countries. When Lucas finished 1SG Michael A. Jensen got on the phone and
talked for a short time. |
